Back text layer for 12 Days of Christmas Ornaments
With the release of the new 12 Days of Christmas Cardstock Ornaments, I heard from several of you who had already purchased the Tin Ornament Collection with plans to modify those designs yourselves into cardstock ornaments.
So, I decided to make the back text piece from each of the new ornaments available as a FREE download!
This piece includes the ornament shape with the built-in hanger and the coordinating “On the ___ day of Christmas, my true love gave to me…” text.
If you already own the Tin Ornament files and are comfortable doing a little modifying, this should give you what you need to create your own cardstock version.
A few things you will still need to do:
Modify the first/top layer of the tin designs. This layer has a larger outer circle because it was designed to fit over the edge of the tin. You'll need to trim off that extra outer edge so the circle is the same size as the remaining design layers. Do NOT resize the entire layer, or you'll also shrink the interior design.
Create a solid ornament layer. Simply duplicate the ornament shape from the free back piece and remove the text. Slice in the number to the top of the ornament.
Create the front circle border. The cardstock ornaments have an additional circle border that the tin designs don't need because the tin itself creates that border. You can easily create your own by slicing a smaller circle from a larger circle.
These free files aren't intended to completely convert the Tin Ornament Collection into the new Cardstock Ornament Collection — there is still some DIY file work involved. But if you purchased the tins with plans to modify them yourself anyway, hopefully this saves you some work and gives you the additional ornament shape and text you were missing!
